Fulham have had a difficult start to the Premier League season. After six games into the season, they have scored just five goals, have just one point and are rock bottom in the table. One constant talking point in their games this season has been their talismanic striker, Aleksandar Mitrović. The Serbian has just two goals to his name so far. In the game against Sheffield United, Mitrović was the focal point as he missed one penalty and conceded one penalty in his own box, costing his team a vital three points.

Below is the shot map of Mitrović from the season so far.

Only Mohamed Salah( 27) has more attempts than Mitrović (26) in the division, but the Serbian has only two goals to his name. This is a conversion rate of 7.69%. Not only that, Mitrović has the most headed attempts (12) than any other player in the league, however, he has scored only once using his head so far. The Serbian also attempts 4.53 shots per 90, which is, once again, the highest in the division along with Harry Kane. Mitrović’s xG is also among the very best in the league at 4.23.

There has been a constant debate as to whether Fulham are creating enough chances for their number nine to score. The numbers show that Mitrović has in fact had a fair number of chances and should have probably bagged a few more goals than he already has. It is fair to say that both he and his team have had a poor start to the season, and if Fulham are to turn their form around, they will need Mitrović to become more clinical in front of goal.
