Plenty of top European clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool will be looking to sign a centre-forward in the summer. One forward who will be on everybody’s list is Marcus Thuram of Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 25-year-old’s contract expires in the summer and all the signs now indicate that Thuram will be leaving the Bundesliga club on a free.
The below visualisation shows where Marcus Thuram ranks for some of the key metrics when compared with the other centre-forwards from the Bundesliga.
Marcus Thuram, who was also part of the French national team in Qatar, is one of the most versatile centre-forward profiles on the market. He can play as a target man, as a wide forward or even as a second striker. With 10 goals currently to his name, only two players have scored more goals than the French forward in the Bundesliga this season. His link-up play using his physical strengths to create chances for his teammates means that he is not just an attractive goalscorer but an able creator too. He takes a high volume of shots, as seen in the radar above. Thuram’s offensive abilities speak for themselves, and he should easily adapt to any team he moves to in the summer.
Since moving to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019, Thuram has seen some steady progress in his career that has seen become one of the most attractive forwards in the European market. From the lower ranks of French football, Thuram could soon be playing at the very top of European football and it will be very much deserved for the 25-year-old.
