Everybody expected Harry Kane to have the season he is having right now, but not many expected Leroy Sané to have the season he is having so far. After a steady start and three decent seasons at the German club, Sané did not explode like people expected him to when he surprised everyone by moving to Bayern Munich from Manchester City in the summer of 2020.

The below visualisation shows the numbers behind the German’s excellent start to the season.

The most impressive thing about Sané during his time at Manchester City was his incredible consistency in one of the toughest leagues in the world. While he was still producing the numbers during his first three seasons at Bayern — 15 goal contributions in 2020/21, 14 in 2021/22 and 15 in 2022/23 – the consistency was lacking during these seasons. He seems to have found that golden touch and already has 14 goal contributions in only 11 league matches this season. He is only one of three players to have started all league games so far. His attacking output seems to be skyrocketing right now, as seen in the visual above. He has scored or assisted in all but two games so far in the Bundesliga this season. There is not a lot of defensive burden on him this time, allowing him to play with more freedom like when he was in England.

Leroy Sané seems to have finally found his touch at Bayern Munich. It has taken time, but it has been worth the wait. Bayern might be 2nd in the table right now, but with the form of Leroy Sané, among others, they might be top very soon.
