The top six goalscorers of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season are entirely different from last season’s top six at present. In fact, only two of last season’s top 10, Niclas Füllkrug (10 goals) and Marvin Ducksch (nine goals), make this season’s top 10 at the time of writing.

Two players — Harry Kane (24 goals) and Serhou Guirassy (17 goals) have already scored more than last year’s top scorer, Füllkrug.

The below visualisation shows how much their respective teams have relied upon this year’s top scorers when compared with last season.

Harry Kane, who moved from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich after a lot of drama in the summer, finished with 30 goals for Spurs last season — 44% of Spurs’ tally. That percentage has decreased marginally at Bayern this season, with the Englishman bagging 41% of the German team’s goals so far.

Interestingly, Bayern’s second-highest scorer in the league, Leroy Sané, has netted only eight times — a significant gap to Kane’s tally.

Serhou Guirassy, with 17 goals, has contributed 35% of Stuttgart’s goals. Stuttgart were in the bottom five for goals scored last season but make the top three this season so far. Guirassy scored 24% of his team’s goals last season, so it is fair to say that he has played a vital part in Stuttgart’s rise this term.

Next comes Loïs Openda with 15 goals. The 24-year-old sensation moved from RC Lens to RB Leipzig during the summer. The Belgian international finished with 21 goals last season, his best tally, making up 31% of RC Lens’ goals tally; this secured him a move to the Bundesliga, and he has not taken a lot of time to settle, scoring 33% of his team’s goals so far.

Next up is Deniz Undav, who had a mixed bag of a campaign last season at Brighton. The forward was quite impressive every time he was on the pitch but scored only 7% of Brighton’s goals because of a lack of regular playing time. The German carries far more importance at Stuttgart and has contributed 29% of their goals this term.

Closing out the top six are Augsburg’s Ermedin Demirović with 12 goals, 40% of his team’s tally compared to 20% last season, and high-flying Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface with 10 goals. Boniface, who had scored 10% of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s goals last season, has scored 19% of his team’s goals this term.
