Part of Bayer Leverkusen’s impressive title-winning squad last season was Adam Hložek.

The 21-year-old Czech international, however, did not play as much as he would have liked over the course of last season, starting only five games and mostly coming off the bench.

Hložek did make an impact off the bench, scoring two goals and assisting three, just like many other Leverkusen players last season.

Having spent two seasons at Leverkusen and mostly not featuring regularly in the starting XI — 21 starts across two seasons — Adam Hložek looked to move this window in search of regular game time.

After almost signing for Leicester City, Hložek was picked up by TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.

Adam Hložek Scouting Report & Style Of Play

The visualisation below shows where Adam Hložek ranks for some of the key metrics compared with the other attacking midfielders from Europe’s Tier 1 leagues.

Adam Hložek was a regular for the senior national team even before he was a regular at club level.

A few consistent seasons at Sparta Prague earned him his move to the Bundesliga.

When he arrived, he did so with a lot of hype surrounding him as a player who can play in different positions in the attacking line.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Adam Hložek is right-footed and good with the back to goal.

Hložek started out as a centre-forward but was eventually moved to play as a winger.

He is taller than your average winger or attacking midfielder and is brave when competing for aerial duels.

He primarily creates chances for his teammates by carrying the ball in his feet and progressing it.

Above the median for the attacking metrics, Adam Hložek could fill the void left by Maximilian Beier, who has left Hoffenheim for Borussia Dortmund.

His versatility is one of the biggest reasons he is among the very best talent in Europe currently.

His creative flair, combined with the steady growth in his performances these last few years, means that players of Hložek’s type are rare in the market.

His move to the Premier League might have collapsed this time around, but he is not far away from securing a place at one of the top Premier League clubs very soon.

It will be interesting to see how well he does in the Bundesliga for another season.
