FC Midtjylland’s reputation for talent scouting is further solidified by their signing of Darío Osorio from Universidad de Chile last summer.

The now 20-year-old has quickly risen to prominence during the 2023/24 season, showcasing the club’s ability to identify and nurture top U20 talent from around the globe.

The visualisation below shows where Osorio ranks for some of the key metrics when compared with players in his position in similar leagues.

Osorio has predominantly played as a right winger in a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 for the Danish Superliga side, which is top of the table at the time of writing.

With 10 goal contributions to his name, Osorio is third highest for that metric at his club.

He is actually below the median for xG Contributions per 90 minutes.

Not only an excellent finisher but also an above-average dribbler—ranking 66th percentile for dribbles attempted per 90 minutes—Osorio is often in the middle third of the pitch between the opposition lines.

His defensive awareness places him very high in defensive metrics—specifically, in the 82nd percentile for defensive positioning—a valuable quality in a young winger.

In possession, he is a very active player — ranking 65th percentile for received passes per 90 minutes and 82nd percentile for progressive passes per 90 minutes.

Osorio’s potential is promising, and he could soon be another standout player from FC Midtjylland.

Although his rise to prominence in Denmark has surprised many, it’s his consistency that truly stands out.

Despite playing less than 1500 minutes, equivalent to approximately 14 90s, his numbers are impressive.

With the Copa América this summer, and the question of whether he will remain with the Danish side next season, his future is certainly one to watch.
