Richard Kone, the 21-year-old Wycombe Wanderers forward, was not very popular beyond the heights of the English National League system until this season.

Kone currently ranks third for goals in League One with eight.

In a very short span of time, Kone has gone on to become one of Wycombe’s important players if they are to get back to the Championship for the first time since 2021.

The visualisation below highlights Kone’s numbers from the season so far, comparing him with other centre-forwards from similar leagues.

Richard Kone Radar Map

With 10 starts to his name, Richard Kone has appeared in all of Wycombe’s league games.

Kone has the best xG per 90 minutes, with 0.69, and goals per 90 minutes as well, with the forward scoring 0.83 goals per 90 minutes.

With 2.91 shots per 90 minutes, Kone ranks in the top 10 for that metric among centre-forwards.

With just 3.03 dribbles per 90 minutes and not seeing much success in dribbling, Kone can indeed improve in carrying the ball.

Kone is quite often the receiver of long passes and benefits the most from Wycombe’s more direct approach.

As a decent chance creator, Kone has not had any assistance so far and is tasked with the responsibility of finishing chances rather than creating them.

Kone is also not a defensive powerhouse, and as his game develops, it will be interesting to see how he improves his defensive work rate and how his game develops off the ball.

Kone’s career is still at a nascent stage, but his development has been nothing short of remarkable.

He is currently expected to score goals and seems to be doing a good job of it.

If he continues this form, it will only be a matter of time before some other EFL club taps him.
