Spain put on perhaps the most technically accomplished performance of EURO 2020 so far, but were unable to make their dominance count and ultimately could only deliver a goalless draw against Sweden in their Group E encounter. Luis Enrique provided a welcome surprise by including 18-year-old Pedri in his starting XI, and while Spain dominated proceedings in the first half, Sweden did have their chances as well. Alexander Isak hit the post and set up Marcus Berg for a brilliant opportunity that was not taken, with the Swedes playing in a solid 4-4-2 shape and looking to counter-attack whenever possible. Robin Olsen did need to make a number of saves in the Swedish goal, especially from Dani Olmo’s superb header, while Alvaro Morata continued his unfortunate run of missing easy chances in this match as well.
