Ukraine picked up their first win of EURO 2020 on the second matchday in Group C, defeating North Macedonia 2-1 to go level with the Netherlands. Ukraine took the lead through Andriy Yarmolenko just on the half-hour mark, and doubled their lead through Roman Yaremchuk five minutes later – both players netting their second goals of the tournament after also scoring in the 3-2 defeat against the Netherlands. Ezgjan Alioski gave North Macedonia a route back into the game near the hour mark, scoring from the rebound after his penalty had been saved by Heorhiy Bushchan, and they did create a few more chances but failed to take them. Ukraine endured a nervy finish after Ruslan Malinovsky missed a penalty late in the game as well, but ultimately held on to pick up their first points of this EURO 2020 campaign, while North Macedonia gave a spirited display for the second match in a row but could not take anything away from the match.
