The FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 is not far away. With the domestic season complete, players and teams are gearing up for what will be the first-ever Women’s World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand. Norway, part of Group A along with hosts New Zealand, Philippines and Switzerland, will be looking to win the title for the first time since 1995 when it was held in Sweden and if they are to win the tournament, they will be relying quite heavily on 28-year-old Guro Reiten to have a good tournament.

The below visualisation shows where Reiten ranks for some of the key metrics when compared with the other players in a similar position.

Guro Reiten, at Chelsea since 2019, probably had one of the best seasons of her career this season. The winger is capable of playing as an advanced forward on the left side or can take a deeper midfield position on the left side. Left-footed, she has mostly played as a left-sided attacking midfielder this season for Chelsea. Having played the third most minutes in the league this season for Chelsea, Reiten finished the 2022/23 season with the most assists in the league than any other player (11 assists).

She also had nine goals to her name. Looking at the visual above, Reiten ranks above average – 62nd percentile for Goal Contributions per 90. She ranks in and around the median percentile for the other attacking metrics. In possession, Reiten is capable of finding her teammates at ease. Ranking 75th percentile for Dangerous passes 90 minutes, it is no surprise that she has more assists than anyone else in the league. She needs to take more responsibility on the defensive side of the game though.

Reiten carries momentum and a good form on her as she travels for the World Cup with the 28-year-old scoring five goals in her last seven games of the league season. Norway Women’s team will be hoping she brings this form along in the league and the form she had during the qualifying campaign along with her experience at the international stage and will hope to go through the latest stages in the tournament.
