Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has had a contrasting two halves of the season so far. After being phased out of the Arsenal team by manager Mikel Arteta, Aubameyang secured a move to Barcelona in the winter transfer window and has since been one of the inform players in Europe. The center-forward has settled in seamlessly to life at Barcelona with recent reports suggesting that Aubameyang will be wearing the No.9 shirt at Barcelona next season.
The 32-year old center-forward, since moving to Barcelona, has scored eight goals in the league and is already Barcelona’s second highest scorer for the season in the league only two goals behind Memphis Depay. Even though Aubameyang did have a dry run towards the end of this time at Arsenal, his ability was never in doubt and he is repaying the faith Barcelona have in him. Aubameyang ranks 92nd percentile for goals per 90 minutes and 99th percentile for Expected Goals (xG) per 90 minutes. His biggest strength is his pace and hence ranks above average for Dribble success rate.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s season looked to have been over a couple of months back but signing for Barcelona means that he once again looks set to compete at the top level again – maybe for the last time in his career? He could not have asked for a better start at Barcelona but it will be next season that answers all of our questions about the man.
