Alexander Sørloth, the 27-year-old Norwegian centre-forward, has had an interesting career so far. Starting out at Rosenborg, he has since played in the Netherlands, Denmark, England, Belgium, Turkey, Germany and Spain across different loan spells and permanent moves to different clubs.

The below visualisation shows where Alexander Sørloth ranks for some of the key metrics and how he is doing in his latest loan spell.

Sørloth has nine goals to his name this season — the joint-fourth highest in the league this term. On loan at Real Sociedad, the Norwegian is very good aerially, ranking above average for aerial duels won. Sørloth also ranks third for minutes played at the Spanish club among outfield players and has played the most minutes among forwards. Looking at the visual above, the Norwegian forward brings a bit of everything to his game but there is still a lot of improvement needed.

Ranking in and around the median percentile for a number of metrics, Sørloth has been a consistent scorer for Real Sociedad and has played an important role in ensuring that the Basque club push for the UEFA Champions League spots. The centre-forward is a strong, physical lad and wins possession quite often closer to the opponent’s goals, generating chances for himself and his teammates. Sørloth is also a flexible centre-forward who can at times be used as a wide man, a target man or even asked to play deeper to hold up and link play with the forward line.

Alexander Sørloth has been regularly asked to move to different clubs because of reasons out of his control but this has not stopped him from consistently delivering what is asked out of him. After making his senior international debut as a 20-year-old, Sørloth is a regular now with the senior team and has formed an impressive partnership with Haaland. There are a lot of similarities between Sørloth and Erling Haaland but it is, of course, not right to compare Sørloth with his international counterpart Haaland.

However, it is fair to say that, having grown over the years, the 27-year-old will be pivotal to Real Sociedad’s performances in the second half of the season and it will be interesting to see if he permanently moves to Spain after two loan spells with the Basque club.
