The 2024/25 League One season is up and running.

England’s third division usually sees a number of Premier League players make a name for themselves, either on loan or permanently before they are all shipped to the grandest leagues of world football.

This summer window, like any other, has seen some of the brightest prospects arrive in League One, including Joe Hugill of Manchester United to Wigan, Callum Marshall of West Ham United to Huddersfield Town, and Jamie Donley of Tottenham to Leyton Orient.

Luke Chambers Scouting Report

One U23 player to watch out for from League One this season is Luke Chambers.

The Liverpool youngster joined the Reds at the age of six and is on loan at Wigan Athletic for the second season running.

The below visualisation show the numbers from Chambers’ 2023/24 season in League One.

Chambers is yet to make his senior debut for Liverpool.

With his contract expiring next summer, he will surely want to make a statement this season at Wigan and help them secure promotion.

Returning to a familiar environment should go a long way in his season.

The left-footed centre-back signed for the League One club in January of 2024 and was pretty much a regular in the starting XI after that.

He has started both games this season, too.

Chambers predominantly played in a back-three last season but can sometimes play as a left-back, too.

Playing in this formation allowed him more freedom to carry the ball forward and progress it between the lines, as seen in his impressive numbers above.

Defensively, he is not aggressive and was carded only once during his time at Wigan last season, but still stood out in his defending attributes — especially in 1v1 duels.

Since Chambers’ signing, Wigan have seen an upturn in form and moved up the table.

They conceded only 22 goals while Chambers was on the pitch and also won 1.67 points per match.

Chambers’ positive impression in the second half of last season earned him a full season in a familiar environment, but the club has started this season poorly.

If Chambers wants to permanently move away from Liverpool and be a regular with some other club, this season is a good opportunity for him to make a statement.
