The EFL League Two is back, and we are two games into the 2024/25 campaign.
Newcomers Chesterfield and Bromley are both at the top end of the table, in third and fourth place, respectively.
Walsall, Gillingham, and Bromley are the only three teams with perfect results so far, winning both games.
Crewe Alexandra and Milton Keynes Dons, who were in the playoffs last year, are dead bottom, and along with Morecambe, they are the only teams yet to win a single point.
The visualisation below shows the teams’ finishing positions and, most importantly, the points tally from last season.
Bradford City AFC, who finished ninth last season and missed out on the playoffs by just one point, are the outright favourites for promotion this year in manager Graham Alexander’s first full season.
Even if the Bantams have had a pretty underwhelming transfer window, with the manager’s strong experience in the EFL, Bradford City could definitely be expected to have their best finish since their relegation from League One.
MK Dons might have started the season badly, but with one of the best squads in League Two and a style that is common in the higher divisions of English football, they might be the first team to secure automatic promotion.
Port Vale, who were relegated from League One, are favorites to go straight back up under the experienced management of Darren Moore.
With an excellent summer window behind them, including the signing of Ryan Croasdale from Stockport County, and a squad capable of competing mid-table in League One, Vale are expected to brush competition and are expected to be the first team to secure promotion.
Notts County are another team to watch out for this season and are dark horses for a promotion push.
In their second season back in League Two, if they can improve their defensive record from last season and continue their offensive form, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they end up in the playoff positions.
Gillingham, Crewe and Doncaster are all teams to watch out for after a good campaign last term.
