PSG have had an interesting summer so far.
Not many could have predicted the events that have transpired at Paris Saint Germain throughout the summer.
The team at Paris looks utterly different to what it was last season, with several changes on and off the pitch.
One such change is the signing of Lee Kang-in from Spanish side Mallorca.
The 22-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest talents to come out of South Korea in recent years.
The winger was at Valencia for 10 years, having joined their academy as a 10-year-old.
The chart below shows where Lee Kang-in ranked for key metrics compared to the other left-wingers from Europe’s top five leagues.
Lee Kang-in Radar Map At Mallorca 2022/2023
The sheer pace and dribbling with the ball at feet are two critical skills for a winger, and Lee Kang-in can excel at both.
Ranked 60th percentile among left-wingers in Europe’s big five leagues is not bad for a 22-year-old, especially playing in a side that does not have a lot of the ball.
Lee Kang-in is very direct in his approach when he receives the ball.
He should be closer to the penalty area – that is an aspect of his game that he needs to improve upon if he wants to find the back of the net more often, having already had his best season in terms of goals and assists.
His intensity off the ball is also an aspect that he can improve upon in his overall game.
PSG have seen a lot of departures this year, including some high-profile names, and they have also equally seen some high-profile incomings.
Having been under the radar for quite some time, the 22-year-old South Korean finally showed his capabilities on the big stage.
Lee Kang-in has been a regular for South Korea’s senior national team for quite some time, and his experience with the senior team on the big stage should help him shine at PSG.
It will be interesting to see if he can quickly convert the chances he gets to become an integral part of this new PSG setup.
