Le Havre secured promotion to the Ligue 1 for the 2023/24 season and have since had an excellent start to the season, sitting seventh in the table after 12 matchweeks with 15 points. One of the brightest sparks from their team is the ever-versatile Josué Casimir. The 22-year-old has been among the best U23 players in Ligue 1 this season.
The visualisation below shows where Casimir ranks for some of the critical metrics this season when compared with the other left-wingbacks from Europe’s Tier 1 leagues.
From his academy days, Casimir is known for playing comfortably in different positions. Having played as a right-back, a left-back, the wing-back positions, an attacking midfielder and a forward at times this season.
With three assists to his name, Casimir is in the top 10 for assists in Ligue 1. Regularly starting and playing against some of the biggest names in world football, Casimir has done his job well so far. While he is still not the wing-back that would shine outside of Ligue 1, his performances have drawn the eye of a lot at times. His offensive and defensive numbers are mainly around the average compared to his peers.
Le Havre has been known for producing for some of the biggest names in world football, and Josué Casimir could be the next on the line, but he first has to make a name for himself in Ligue 1 before he can step outside of which he has been doing a pretty decent job so far.
