What started as a poor season for Paris Saint-Germain, with just two wins from their opening five games, is turning out to be another walk in the park for the defending Ligue 1 champions. Luis Enrique’s men hit top gear after match week five and have since won 11/13 league games — the title race will soon be over if PSG are going to continue this form.
The below visualisation shows the form of all 18 teams in Ligue 1 thus far and each team’s consistency in results.
PSG’s two draws since losing against Nice in match week five have come against Clermont Foot and Lille.
Second-placed Nice did not lose a game until match week 14, when they lost to Nantes and have since struggled for form losing two of the following four games; they are now eight points behind the league leaders.
Brest, who finished closer to relegation last season, are third and are the form team next to PSG, winning six of their last seven having won only four of their first 11.
Last season’s runners-up Lens have struggled for consistency and are currently eighth after failing to win any of their first five games.
In the upper mid-table, Lille and Marseille rank joint-second for draws and are rightly where they should be on the table, while newcomers Le Havre — after a steady but good start to the season — are now back in form after winning only one of nine in October, November and early December.
The biggest surprise comes at the bottom of the table, with Lyon winning just four games all term. Their current form, though, is positive, having won three of their last four games. Simultaneously, Metz seem to be hitting poor form, losing each of their last five games. Clermont Foot and Lorient have won only three and two, respectively, all season.
