Olympique Marseille have signed some eye-catching players this summer window but one of their best players this season has been the one who has been with them all along.

Luis Henrique, the 22-year-old who was signed from Brazilian club Botafogo in 2020 finally seems to be a regular starting XI player for Marseille.

Having started all four games so far this season, Henrique is the joint-highest contributor for Goals plus assists (three goals and two assists).

Luis Henrique Radar Map At Olympique Marseille

The below visualisation shows Luis Henrique’s performances from the 2023/24 season for Marseille for whom he appeared in 15 games after returning from Botafogo on loan.

Having played the majority of his minutes from the left side as a left-winger or in a more advanced role as a left-sided forward, Henrique also appeared to play as a right-sided forward at times.

According to the data provider Wyscout, his positional split is 29% left-winger, 18% left-wing forward, and 23% right-wing forward.

This season, he has played 98% of his minutes on the left side.

Right-footed by nature, Luis Henrique’s style of play is not that of a touchline winger.

He quite often positions himself in the channel to receive a pass and almost always underlaps.

Henrique’s close control is impressive, and he is very dynamic and athletic with the ball.

He is not afraid to take on defenders; Henrique likes to progress the ball forward through carries and ranks high for progressive passes per 90 minutes.

With 2.9 progressive runs per 90, he was among the top for the U23 players in Ligue 1 last season.

Henrique has improved in front of the goal this season and has also found success as his team’s creative player.

The loan spell at Botafogo seems to have helped him prepare for the level at which we are seeing him now.

Having signed players that complement Henrique well, we should see the very best of the Brazilian this season.
