Olympique Marseille have been making promising moves in this summer’s transfer window.

One of those moves includes the signing of Valentín Carboni, who was on loan at AC Monza from Inter Milan last season.

The 19-year-old player’s decision was something to watch out for during this summer window, and he has now agreed to join the Ligue 1 club on loan for the season.

Valentín Carboni Scouting Report & Style Of Play

The visualisation below shows where Valentín Carboni ranked for some of the key metrics during his loan spell at Monza compared with the other players who play in a similar position to his in Europe’s tier 1 leagues.

Representing Internazionale in different youth categories, Carboni made his senior debut as a 17-year-old in the 2022/23 season.

Carboni is a left-footed attacking midfielder who is quite often deployed as a no.10 but can play on either side of the striker.

Playing quite frequently as an impact sub for Monza last season, Carboni is a player capable of playing through the press, and that is one of his biggest strengths.

Ranking above average for progressive passes per 90 minutes, Carboni is positioned between the lines to receive a pass, helping his side retain possession and proceed with the attack.

In spite of starting only 10 times for Monza last season, Carboni finished with five goal contributions — only three other players had more than the 19-year-old Argentinian.

His defensive awareness is a positive to his game that makes him stand out among the players in his age category.

Valentín Carboni now has another new experience and a buy clause included in his loan spell.

This move also shows Inter still see potential in him and think he has a future there.

For now, Carboni requires more game time, especially as a regular starter, and the youthful Marseille team under Roberto de Zerbi can only be a positive overall for everybody involved.
