When Ibrahimović came back to Milan, nobody believed that he could still play at the top level considering his age. What we all know is that Ibrahimović is a fighter. He doesn’t lack self-confidence and if anybody shows doubt in him, it just ignites the fire. This season he is the top Serie A scorer with seven goals on his account in just four matches played. He started the season well by scoring a brace against Bologna in the first Serie A fixture, but then got coronavirus, forcing him to miss the next two Serie A fixtures. On his comeback, he scored a brace in the Derby Della Madonnina, leading his team to win against their fiercest enemy, Inter Milan. He also scored twice against Roma and scored the winner against Udinese.
Ibra scored two penalties and missed one against Inter Milan, but scored on the rebound from Handanović, correcting his mistake. He took 14 shots excluding penalties and scored five goals from open-play. We can see that Ibrahimović scored goals from high xG positions between the penalty spot and six-yard-box. He took very few attempts from outside the box. We know that Ibrahimović tends to score attractive goals, but he is yet to score from distance.
Conclusion
Ibrahimović had a big impact on Milan since his arrival. He turned tables and now they look like a team at the Champions League level again. If his team continues to deliver him the balls into the penalty area, he will almost certainly score more than 20 goals this season. The biggest factor in this will be a season without any prolonged absences due to injury. Hard work and dedication are certainly responsible for his fitness and strength, which helps him keep up with younger players. His stint at Milan will likely be his last dance, so let’s just enjoy performances from one of the best forwards in the 21st century.
