We are approaching the final phase of the Premier League 22/23 season. With most teams having played at least 22 games, Manchester City are top of the table level on points with, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, although the Gunners have a game in hand. Behind them are Erik Ten Hag’s high-flying Manchester United. Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United complete the top four. Brighton and Fulham deserve a mention when we talk about the standings for their excellent seasons so far. We have had enough games completed in the season for us to look at which teams are performing well at home and away.
The below visualisation shows the percentage of overall points won secured home and away so far this season.
Liverpool have won the highest percentage of points on home soil, with the Reds securing 75% of their points at home. In terms of actual points, Manchester City have earned 31 points at home, followed by Man United (in contrast to their dismal home form last season) and Arsenal (26). The Cityzens have, however, played a game more than their local rivals and title rivals.
Southampton have the worst record with the Saints, currently without a permanent manager, having won only 1 game at their home so far. Brighton & Hove Albion are surprisingly the only other team to have a better away record than home record with the seagulls winning 51% of their points away from home.
When it comes to away records, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest have the worst record in terms of percentage of points with both clubs securing only 25% of their points away from home. Jurgen Klopp’s men have lost their three games away from home. Bournemouth have won the fewest points (five) away from home, winning only one and drawing two games. West Ham, Leeds and Everton also have poor records away from home. Arsenal (25) have won the most points away from home, followed by Manchester United and Manchester City (both 20).
West Ham, Bournemouth and Leeds will look to continue their record at home if they are to avoid relegation.
