The 2023/24 Premier League season has seen Newcastle United score eight against Sheffield United and five against Aston Villa, Fulham bag five in back-to-back match weeks against Nottingham Forest and West Ham, and Liverpool net four on three consecutive weekends. This season has been nothing short of a goal fest.

The below visualisation shows the number of goals scored by each team in every matchweek this season.

There are no prizes for guessing the team that has scored the most goals this season, and that team is Manchester City, with 56 goals. The defending treble-winners have yet to score twice this season – away to Arsenal and Aston Villa. Liverpool, meanwhile, have racked up 55 goals and failed to score only once – at home against, guess who? Manchester United.

Arsenal have scored three goals or more eight times this season; Liverpool and Manchester City have done it 11 times this season. Aston Villa, who rank 2nd for that metric, have scored three or more nine times this season and in all home games, along with Newcastle United and Tottenham.

Interestingly, the Spurs have scored in all away games, too, making them the only team to score in all league games so far. Liverpool are the only other team to score in all away games.

Sheffield United, who scored the fewest goals (22) in the league, have failed to score in nine, one fewer than Everton and Fulham, who have both failed to score in 10. Manchester United have been unable to score in seven games.

Luton Town, who struggled to find the back of the pack quite often at the start of the season, has scored two or more goals in four of their last six.

Wolves, usually a high-scoring team, have scored three or more goals in four of their previous six.

Brighton, who ranked fourth for goals scored last season, have somewhat struggled for goals this term.

Everton, Fulham and Sheffield United have failed to score in the five away games — more than any other competitor. Everton, Fulham, once again, along with Burnley, have been unable to score in five home games – more than any other side.
