Juventus are looking to sign Leandro Paredes from PSG. The midfielder has been Juventus’ number one transfer target all summer. At the time of writing the move has not yet been finalised, but if the move goes through before the end of this summer window, it could a transformative signing for the Italian club.
The following visualisation shows what kind of player Paredes is and how he fared during the 2021/22 season at PSG.
Leandro Paredes missed the major part of last season through injuries and fitness issues. However, the 28-year-old, when played was clearly one of the best players on the pitch for the French club. The Argentine midfielder, who originally signed from Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg, has been with French champions for three and a half seasons.
Paredes’ biggest strength is his passing as seen in the radar. Paredes played only 882 minutes last season but he ranked above average for all passing metrics. Notably, he ranked in the 98th percentile for Progressive passes per 90 minutes. He was often involved in the build up and was always available for a pass from a teammate as seen in his percentile rank for Received passes per 90 minutes.
Paredes’ defensive qualities also speak for itself as the 28-year-old Argentine ranked in the 89th percentile for PAdj. Interceptions per 90 minutes and 81st percentile for PAdj. Sliding Tackles. Leandro adds a lot of quality that Juventus are in desperate need of, both offensively and defensively. It explains why the Italian club want to sign him so badly but it will be interesting to see if the deal goes through.
