Inter seem to be well on course to win the 2023/24 Serie A title. Simone Inzaghi’s men lead the pack with 60 points to their name, having lost only once all season in the league while scoring the most goals and conceding the fewest; Inter are deserving of their position on the table.
This season, in addition to Inter’s strong performances, has seen some interesting narratives unfold, including Bologna’s home form and their opposite away form, along with Juventus’ not-so-good home form but excellent away form.
The below visualisation talks about how lethal all teams have been in finding the back of the net home and away. All data was collected on 17th February 2022, after Inter’s match against Salernitana.
Roma, who have struggled for consistency all season, have scored the most goals (30) at home, but their away form is a big reason why they are where they are in the table, having netted only 12 times.
Inter are joint-top for goals scored at home, with Inzaghi’s men also scoring 30 goals. Atalanta, who have the joint second-most wins at home, have scored 27 goals in front of their supporters and rank second for the home goals metric.
Bologna (24), Fiorentina (22), Frosinone (22) and Milan (21) are the other teams to have scored more than 20 goals at home.
On the flip side, Lazio, Monza and relegation favourites Hellas Verona have scored the fewest goals (12) at home.
When it comes to their away form, Inter have scored the most goals (29) followed by rivals AC Milan (26); Juventus are third with 19 away goals.
Cagliari and Salernitana have scored the fewest goals (seven) away from home, while defending champions Napoli have been below par both at home and away, scoring only 32 goals in total — 27 less than Inter.
Inter, Milan, Juventus, Sassuolo, Lazio and Empoli are the teams to have scored more goals for their away supporters than they have in front of the home faithful.
