Is Sydney van Hooijdonk to leave Bologna for Wolfsburg? We first scouted the Dutch striker back in September 22 and followed him through his loan spell with Heerenveen last campaign, feeling he could have a big impact for a Tier 2 club.
Who is Sydney van Hooijdonk?
“Sydney van Hooijdonk is a traditional striker who had the basic traits of a target man. He was decent during hold-ups and looked like the focal point up top, especially when playing route one football. He looked to be the player his side aimed for when playing crosses into the box as he does well to get on the end of these balls and convert them into goals. The striker also showcased a poacher’s instinct when inside the opposition area, getting onto wayward balls and slotting them past the keeper with composure. However, his skill seemed to be a little one-dimensional and his limited technique doesn’t help the cause either.
His defensive work looks decent for a striker as he lacks the consistency and intensity with his high press and counter-press. He lacks intensity with off-the-ball work which is something he needs to work on as well.”
