The Premier League’s 2023/24 season is almost here. It’s the time of the year when clubs plan to buy and sell players. Some clubs planned ahead and made signings for this season in January 2023, and the rest are chasing the pack to sign the leftovers.

AFC Bournemouth, after an excellent few months and managing to finish the season strong and remain in the Premier League for another year, have been making the right calls in the transfer window so far.

The Cherries are addressing key positions in this window so far — signing left-back Milos Kerkez, permanently signing midfielder Hamed Traorè and Romain Faivre and loaning him to FC Lorient. However, the signing of Dango Ouattara that the Cherries completed in January 2023 tops everything.

The below visualisation shows where Dango Ouattara ranks for some of the key metrics compared to the other players in his position in the premier league last season.

Having only signed for AFC Bournemouth in January 2023, Dango Ouattara still had a better impact than most players in the Cherries’ season last time around. The forward, playing on the right side, finished with three assists and one goal to his name in 2022/23.

Dango Ouattara’s biggest strength is his pace, and he uses this to his advantage by staying on the line of the defenders’ shoulders and attacking the box with the ball in his feet using his pace. Ranked 76th percentile for Dribbles per 90 minutes, Ouattara is one of the best dribblers in the Bournemouth squad.

Having scored only one goal from an xG of 3.18, Ouattara will need to improve his finishing in the longer run if he is to settle in this Bournemouth starting XI permanently. Under Iraola, Ouattara also needs to improve his defensive work rate.

The 21-year-old Ouattara will be vital to Bournemouth’s season in 2023/24. Working under a new coach who loves to press on the front foot and attack quickly is a challenge Dango Ouattara will have to overcome if he is to become one of the best forwards in the Premier League. Going by his first few months in the Premier League, Dango Ouattara is a player to watch out for this upcoming season.
