The second match in Group A, and indeed EURO 2020, saw Wales taking on Switzerland in Baku, with both sides sharing the spoils following a 1-1 draw. The Swiss began the game as the stronger side, with a number of chances in the first half – Haris Seferovic in particular had three chances which he could not take. However, the best chance of the half fell to a Wales player, as Kieffer Moore drew a fantastic save from the Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a header from Dan James’ cross. Switzerland managed to make their dominance count early in the second half, as Breel Embolo scored with a well-placed header from Xherdan Shaqiri’s corner. However, Wales hit back with a set-piece routine of their own, with Moore scoring from Joe Morrell’s cross, and both sides will be happy with a point from their opening match.
